Water Parameters
Maintain consistent reef-safe levels:
- Temperature: 75–80°F (24–27°C)
- Salinity: 1.023–1.025
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
- Nitrates: <10> - Phosphates: <0> Bubble corals are hardy but sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry.
Lighting & Flow
- Lighting: Moderate intensity (LED or T5). Too much light can cause bleaching; too little may reduce expansion.
- Water Flow: Low to moderate, indirect flow. Strong currents can tear the delicate bubbles.
Placement
- Location: Place in the lower to mid regions of the tank.
- Spacing: Keep 15–20 cm from other corals. Bubble corals extend long sweeper tentacles at night and can sting neighbors.
Feeding
- Photosynthetic: Contains zooxanthellae, so it gets energy from light.
- Supplemental Feeding: Boosts growth and coloration. Feed 1–2 times per week with:
- Mysis shrimp
- Brine shrimp
- Reef roids or coral-specific foods
- Method: Target feeding is most effective
