Highlights

• Appearance:

  • Colonies grow up to 30–50 cm high.

  • Branches are thin (2–4 mm), cylindrical, and often tangled.

  • Polyps emerge from knobs along the branches.

  • Colors vary: colonies may be red, yellow, pink, or white; polyps can be white, yellow, or red.

• Habitat:

  • Endemic to South Africa, from Bloubergstrand to East London.

  • Found at depths of 10–30 m, sometimes deeper (up to 160 m).

• Feeding: Filter feeder, consuming plankton carried by water currents.

• Aquarium Suitability: Not recommended for home aquaria due to its specialized feeding and environmental needs
