Marble Eel The term “Marble Eel” can refer to two distinct species: the Marbled Snake Eel (Callechelys marmorata) and the Marbled Eel (Anguilla marmorata, also called Giant Mottled Eel). The first is a marine burrowing eel suited for reef aquariums, while the second is a freshwater-to-marine migratory eel that grows very large and is rarely kept in home aquariums.
