Highlights

Water Parameters

Maintain consistent reef-safe levels:

Temperature: 75–80°F (25°C)
Salinity: 1.025
pH: 8.1–8.4
Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
Calcium: 400–450 ppm
Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
Nitrates:
Phosphates:
Torch corals are sensitive to swings in water chemistry, so stability is key.

Lighting & Flow

Lighting: Moderate to high intensity (LED or T5). Avoid sudden changes in lighting, which can stress the coral.
Water Flow: Moderate, indirect flow. Strong direct currents can damage the long tentacles, while low flow may lead to detritus buildup.

Placement

Location: Place in the mid to lower regions of the tank.
Spacing: Keep 10–15 cm away from other corals. Torch corals have long sweeper tentacles and can sting neighbors.

Feeding

Photosynthetic: Contains zooxanthellae, so it gets energy from light.
Supplemental Feeding: Boost growth with 1–2 weekly feedings of:
Mysis shrimp
Brine shrimp
Reef roids or coral-specific foods
Method: Target feeding is ideal to ensure nutrients reach the coral.

Description

Grim Reaper Torch corals are a rare and visually stunning variety of Euphyllia glabrescens, known for their dark tentacles and glowing tips. They require stable water conditions, moderate lighting, and gentle flow to thrive.
