Water Parameters
Maintain consistent reef-safe levels:
- Temperature: 75–80°F (25°C)
- Salinity: 1.025
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Alkalinity: 8–12 dKH
- Calcium: 400–450 ppm
- Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
- Nitrates: <10> - Phosphates: <0> Wall hammers are hardy but sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry.
Lighting & Flow
- Lighting: Moderate to high intensity (LED or T5). Too much light can bleach the coral; too little can dull its neon green coloration.
- Water Flow: Moderate, indirect flow. Strong currents can damage the polyps, while low flow may hinder nutrient exchange.
Placement
- Location: Place in the mid to lower regions of the tank.
- Spacing: Keep 10–15 cm away from other corals. Wall hammers have long sweeper tentacles and can sting neighbors.
Feeding
- Photosynthetic: Contains zooxanthellae, so it gets energy from light.
- Supplemental Feeding: Boost growth with 1–2 weekly feedings of:
- Mysis shrimp
- Brine shrimp
- Reef roids or coral-specific foods
- Method: Target feeding is ideal to ensure nutrients reach the coral.
