The Neptune LD-3 Multi-Surface Optical Leak Sensor is a significant upgrade over its analog counterpart, the LD-2 Solid Surface Leak Detection Probe. While the LD-2 uses conductive strips to detect fluid leaks on surfaces around your aquarium, the LD-3 uses optical sensor technology. This change in sensor technology provides the LD-3 with two distinct advantages over the LD-2: Reusable and corrosion-resistant. The LD-3 sensor can be reused after coming into contact with water. Unlike the conductive strips of the LD-2, which are prone to corrosion when exposed to saltwater, the epoxy-coated optical sensors of the LD-3 can provide long-lasting leak detection even after repeated exposure to saltwater without the risk of corrosion! Multi-surface applications without false alarms. The conductive strips of the LD-2 can sometimes trigger false alarms when placed on metal surfaces. With its optical sensor, the LD-3 can be effectively used on any surface, including metal and epoxy-coated cement, without the risk of false alarms.
